Focus

Focus is a distraction-free timer built for deep, intentional work. Set a duration, name what you're working on, choose a soundscape, and give one thing your full attention.

Starting a session

  1. Open Focus from the sidebar (/app/focus). No setup required — the timer is ready immediately.
  2. Set a duration. Choose a preset (25, 45, or 90 minutes) or enter a custom length. Whether you sprint in Pomodoro-style blocks or settle into a 90-minute deep block, Focus adapts to your rhythm.
  3. Name your focus (optional) so you can look back later on what you gave your attention to.
  4. Link a task (optional) by picking one of today's intentions from the setup screen — its title stays visible for the whole session, so the timer is always pointed at something real instead of running in the abstract.
  5. Press Start, and go full-screen for a truly quiet workspace.

Ambient soundscapes

Focus includes ambient audio to help you settle in:

  • White noise and brown noise — generated in your browser, so they're always available and never need to load.
  • Rain and Rain & thunder — natural soundscapes.
  • Lo-fi — relaxed background music with a gentle fade-in.

Adjust the volume at any time, or turn sound off entirely. If a track can't load, Focus quietly falls back to generated noise so your session is never interrupted.

On brown noise

Brown noise emphasizes lower frequencies and is a popular choice for concentration. Because it's synthesized locally, it starts instantly and works fully offline.

During a session

The timer counts down in a clean, full-view layout with a subtle progress ring to keep you anchored. The session keeps running even if your connection drops — the timer lives in your browser. When it ends, your session is recorded automatically.

After a session

Completed sessions are logged with their duration and time, building an honest picture of when and how deeply you work. That history flows into the Insights dashboard as your focused-minutes trend.

Tips for deep work

  • Pair a session with a single Life Dimension — for example, a 50-minute block dedicated to Learning.
  • Actually link the session to one of today's intentions (not just mentally) so your focus time pushes a real priority forward.
  • Full-screen plus a soundscape is the fastest way to drop into flow.
